Nicholas Merlin

With a diverse background in law and public administration, Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida State University (2000), a Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University School of Law (2004), and a Master of Public Administration from Florida State University (2007). Nick has been a proud member of the Florida Bar since 2006 and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals Bar since 2007, marking nearly two decades of legal experience as of October 2024.

In 2014, Nick relocated to Tallahassee, Florida, where he met his wife, and they tied the knot in 2015. Their journey took a new turn in 2020 when his wife received an opportunity to teach at La Trobe University in Melbourne, prompting his family to embark on an exciting Australian adventure in 2021. During Nick's time in Melbourne, he completed his Australian legal coursework at La Trobe University and The College of Law, earning admission as an Australian lawyer.

Nick is passionate about family, reading, travel, and film, with a particular fondness for burgers—always on the hunt for the best in town! Since moving to Melbourne, he has developed a love for its vibrant coffee culture and looks forward to exploring everything this incredible city and country has to offer.
