Muhammad Iftikhar (Momo) Djojosugito

Australian Migration Lawyer

Background

Momo is a dedicated Australian Migration Lawyer, renowned for his extensive expertise and commitment to immigration law. Momo joined Australian Migration Lawyers from the equally prestigious international law firm Allens. With a strong academic foundation and a fervent commitment to assisting migrants in their journey, Momo is also fluent in German and Indonesian.

Momo’s passion for migration law is deeply rooted in his own international experiences. Growing up across the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Austria, and having never lived in his country of passport, Indonesia, he has developed a profound empathy for the challenges faced by individuals relocating away from their homeland. This unique perspective fuels his dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of migrants, helping them navigate the complexities of Australian immigration law.

Momo has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting and empowering others. As an English Mentor and Design Manager for the Australia-Indonesia Medical English Development Project, he played a pivotal role in teaching English to 30 mentees from the Bina Usada School of Health Sciences in Indonesia. His work included designing a curriculum to enhance critical appraisal skills of English-language scientific literature and promoting understanding of international academic culture. Momo’s responsibilities extended to collaborating with mentors to deliver and monitor the curriculum. His dedication to the project culminated in a two-week excursion to Bali, where he engaged directly with mentees and liaised with local sponsors to ensure the project's success.

Momo also cares deeply about the environment and climate refugees. Previously, he served as the Environment Director at the Melbourne University Law Students’ Society, where he championed environmental and sustainability initiatives. His role involved advocating for new projects and staying abreast of environmental law developments both locally and globally. Momo’s commitment extends to climate refugees, as he recognizes the urgent need for legal support and advocacy for those displaced due to environmental factors.

Momo’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne, a Postgraduate degree in Climate Change from University College London, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne, completed in 2022. He furthered his legal education with a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Leo Cussen in 2023.

In his role as an Australian Migration Lawyer, Momo is driven by a genuine desire to understand and address the unique stories and needs of migrants coming to Australia. His multilingual abilities and international experiences enhance his capability to offer superior and adaptable legal services, including legal research, case management, and document preparation.

Outside of his professional life, Momo enjoys cooking diverse dishes with his partner, seeing it as a delightful way to explore and appreciate different cultures.

Momo’s dedication to migration law and his empathetic approach to the challenges faced by migrants reflect his commitment to making a positive impact on their lives, ensuring they receive the support and guidance they need to build successful futures in Australia.
