These visas enable elderly individuals who depend on a family member who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen for financial assistance, to move to Australia. The subclasses relate to onshore (subclass 838) or offshore (subclass 114) applications. The below information applies to both subclasses, with the only difference being the location (either inside or outside of Australia) of the applicant at the time of application and decision.

Aged Dependent Relative visa checklist

The Aged Dependent Relative visas require you to provide evidence of your relationship to your relative (sponsor). To support this visa application, the following documents must be submitted to the Department of Home Affairs:
